About Us
We are a tight knit group who enjoy playing and working together. Our goal is to share our love of the renaissance and Scottish culture with everyone. We do this by portraying the household of the Baron and Baroness of Drumlanrig. We are lowland Scots from the borderlands so we regularly find our selves part of the English and Scottish royal progresses.

Even while on progress some of the activities you can participate with us include:
  • spinning
  • embroidery
  • bobbin lace
  • children's games
  • games of chance
  • fencing
  • cooking
  • paper making
Meet the Household
Lord and Lady Douglas The Baron and Baroness of Drumlanrig

Our Lord James and Lady Mary have arranged for the household to travel with the royal court. Our home is the120,000 acres of the Queensberry Estate surround Drumlanrig Castle. Most of the Estate is tenanted farms. Many of these are hill farms producing lambs and beef cattle. The 3000 acres of in hand farms concentrate mainly on dairy farming although there are some sheep, beef cattle and arable crops, including potatoes. The high rainfall in this area favors livestock and milk rather than cereals.

The high rainfall also benefits tree growth. Soils and conditions make for the production of good quality softwood timber from conifers, which probably grow faster here than anywhere else in Europe. There are 10 000 acres of forestry of a mixed range of age and species.

Mistress Cecilia

Is an accomplished gentlewoman who is well known throughout the shire for her mastery of Ladies crafts. You can expect to meet the good mistress as she spins the finest yarn, produces lovely lace,or embroiders the perfect black work.
Master John Falstack

A leader of Lord James's boarder troops little more than a gang of thieves, who spends time drinking, gaming and fenceing for fun. Falstack is a petty, though witty soldier (thief) with little time for the responsibilities of the world, preferring to enjoy life without accountability and consequence instead.
Garreth the Page

The son of a local noble man Garreth is Lord James's page. He spends his days running household errands, always sneaking away to play with the other children of the shire, and avoiding his lessons.
John Fleming the sixth

The Younger brother of Lady Mary, as the only son of a prominent nobleman (the fifth Lord Fleming) John spends his days at leisure hawking, hunting, drinking, gaming, and wooing the Ladies of the court.
The Staff

These are the grooms, maids, gentlemen and gentlewomen who keep the household running. Even on progress daily chores cannot be forgotten, however festival days grant the household staff some unusual free time to enjoy the offerings of the shire.
